Free CERT training in Cy-Fair begins Aug. 1
The Community Emergency Response Team will be training volunteers to prepare for hurricanes and other emergencies starting Aug. 1 at Bear Creek United Methodist Church, 16000 Rippling Water Drive.
Training will include fire safety, search and rescue, medical operations, disaster psychology, terrorism awareness and more.
Participants will receive a study manual, safety vest, safety goggles, hard hat and a starter backpack with supplies. Completing the courses will earn volunteers a certificate and a photo I.D. issued by the Fire Marshal's Office.
Courses are free and take place from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Wednesdays for eight weeks.
