Cy Creek HS alum Paul Janish and Atlanta take down Miami
Cy Creek High School graduate Paul Janish and the Atlanta Braves beat the Miami Marlins, 6-1, Thursday. Janish went 1-for-4 in the Atlanta's victory.
On the season, Janish is batting .206, with two runs driven in. Janish has played in 19 games for the Braves this season, after being acquired in a mid-season trade with the Cincinnati Reds. Jashish played with Cincinnati from 2008 until he was traded to Atlanta.
After a stellar career at Cy Creek, Janish played college baseball at Rice University for three seasons. He was drafted in the fifth round (138th overall) of the 2004 Major League Baseball drafted by Cincinnati. He spent parts of five seasons in the Reds organization before making his Major League debut on May 14, 2008.
In 2004, following his first professional season, Janish received the Dernell Stenson Award as the Most Valuable Player of the Florida Instructional League. Prior to the 2005 and 2006 seasons, he was rated by Baseball America as the best defensive infielder in the Reds' organization.
