Cy Creek High School grad Janish knocks in two for Atlanta

Cy Creek High School graduate Paul Janish helped the Atlanta Braves beat the Houston Astros 6-1 in Major League Baseball action Aug. 5.

Janish went 1-for-4 with two RBIs in the victory.

On the season, Janish is batting .203 with four RBIs.

Janish has played in 22 games for the Braves this season after being acquired in a mid-season trade with the Cincinnati Reds.

Jashish played with Cincinnati from 2008 until he was traded to Atlanta this season.

After a stellar career at Cy Creek, Janish played college baseball at Rice University for three seasons. He was drafted in the fifth round (138th overall) of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft by Cincinnati. He spent parts of five seasons in the Reds organization before making his MLB debut May 14, 2008.

In 2004, following his first professional season, Janish received the Dernell Stenson Award as the Most Valuable Player of the Florida Instructional League.

Prior to the 2005 and 2006 seasons, Janish was rated by Baseball America as the best defensive infielder in the Reds' organization.
