Cypress-Fairbanks ISD names new assistant superintendent

Ify Ogwumike has been named the new assistant superintendent for student services at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District.

According to a press release, Ogwumike, currently the principal at Hamilton Middle School, will replace Deborah Stewart, who was named the associate superintendent for human resources and student services in June.

"It has been a distinct privilege to serve the students, parents and community of Hamilton Middle School," Ogwumike said in the release. "The experience I have gained will be invaluable as I continue to support our students and great district in this new capacity, and I am thankful for the opportunity."

Before becoming the principal of Hamilton Middle School, Ogwumike was a special education teacher for five years and assistant principal at the school for nine years. She also served as the director of instruction at Cypress Woods High School from July 2006 to January 2007.
