Cy-Fair Hospital offers breastfeeding support group
The Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital in Cy-Fair is offering a breastfeeding support group, at follow-up to World Breastfeeding Week which ended on Aug. 7.
The group gets together at the medical center from 9:30-11 a.m. on the first and third Thursday of every month at the Cy-Fair Hospital Professional Building 1, 11302 Fallbrook Drive, at classroom 2.
The free group is for all new and expecting mothers to learn about the breastfeeding process. Participants do not need to be hospital patients.
Jocelyn Possehl, R.N., B.S., IBCLC, CBE will lead the group discussions. She is the hospital's staff lactation consultant.
Topics for discussion include the health benefits of breastfeeding for both parties, including the reduction of post-delivery depression episodes for mothers, and the lower risks of common illnesses and infections for infants.
