LSC-CyFair open auditions set Aug. 20 for "Evita"

Lone Star College-Cy-Fair will hold open auditions Monday, Aug. 20 for its upcoming production of "Evita."

Roles are available for ages 6-75, with some major roles expected to be double cast. "Evita" is a Tony Award-winning musical rock opera from the minds of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

"Our music and theater departments are teaming up to present the unforgettable true story of Eva Pern's rise to power as Argentina's First Lady and advocate for the poor," said Alex Qian, LSC-Cy-Fair's artistic director of vocal activities, in a press release. "We are seeking emerging professional middle school, high school and college students to be a part of our amateur volunteer production."

Actors will be asked to audition with a song from a Broadway show. Actors should bring their own sheet music for the provided accompanist.

Auditions will take place from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20 in the Main Stage Theatre at LSC-Cy-Fair, 9191 Barker Cypress Road.

Music rehearsals will begin Thursday, Sept. 27. Performances are scheduled for Nov. 2-3, Nov. 9 and Nov. 11.
