LSC-CyFair Out of the Woods gallery exhibition opens Aug. 28

"Forest Nave" is one of Suzanne Manns' pieces that will be on display at Lone Star College-Cyfair's Bosque Gallery from Aug. 28 to Sept. 20.

Artist Suzanne Manns' collection titled Out of the Woods will open at the Lone Star College-CyFair's Bosque Gallery Tuesday, Aug. 28.

The exhibition will be on display through Thursday, Sept. 20. An opening reception with Manns is scheduled for 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13.

Manns' work is inspired by trees and is done in monotype, etching, photopolymer, lithography and collagraph styles. Manns is the department head of Works on Paper at the Museum of Fine Arts at the Glassell School of Art in Houston.

"The pieces in this exhibition are a selection that spans the last 7 years," Manns said in a press release. "All are images of trees found in my garden, my neighborhood or photographed while traveling in Europe. They focus on single elements or combinations of bits and fragments to create individualized imagery, filtered through my physical and psychological perceptions while meditating on the fragile, yet enduring nature of life."

The Bosque Gallery is at 9191 Barker Cypress Road in the Center for the Arts building. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 3-6 p.m. Wednesday.
