LSC-CyFair Music Faculty Seeks songwriters

Registration is now open for Lone Star College-CyFair's Popular Songwriting Class.

Assistant Professor of Music and composer-lyricist Dr. Aaron Alon will lead the class of aspiring songsters and future Grammy winners through a series of lyric writing, melody, harmony and form lessons.

Students will learn the fundamentals of popular songwriting, both traditional and contemporary, while writing their own selections in the style of their choosing. Students will perform their songs in a final concert in LSC-CyFair's Main Stage Theatre.

The class listing is MUSI 1386. Students must complete ENGL 0305 and ENGL 0307 with at least a C grade or ENGL 1301 with a grade of D or better.

Two sections will be available in the upcoming session, with 5001 meeting from 1:30-2:50 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 5002 meeting from 1-2:20 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The fall semester begins on Monday, Aug. 27.

The CyFair campus, 9191 Barker Cypress Road, is one of five colleges in the Lone Star College System.
