Cy-Fair athletes fare well at London Olympics
A pair of Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District graduates competed successfully in the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Team USA gymnast Jonathan Horton, a 2004 Cypress-Fairbanks High School graduate, placed sixth in the horizontal bar event with a score of 15.466.
Horton was also part of Team USA's fifth-place finish in the men's team finals with a score of 269.952 on July 31, participating in the rings and horizontal bar events. Horton's score of 15.2 helped Team USA to finish third in the horizontal bar with a total score of 46.399, while his score of 15.266 helped Team USA place fourth in the rings with a score of 45.257.
Team USA swimmer Cammile Adams, a 2010 Cypress Woods High School graduate, placed fifth in the women's 200-meter butterfly final with a time of 2:06.78 on Aug. 1. Adams, who swims for Texas A&M University, won a state title for Cypress Woods in the 500 freestyle in 2010.
