Willowbrook Mall to host KHOU Channel 11 Gulf Coast regional blood drive Aug. 31

Area residents who would like to help save a life are invited to donate blood as the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and Willowbrook Mall join forces to host a blood drive at the shopping center.

Donors will find the blood donor mobile coach stationed in the mall's parking lot near the Los Cucos entrance from 1-7 p.m. Aug. 31. Anyone who donates and credits Channel 11 will receive a commemorative Commit for Life T-shirt and a gift certificate for a free pint of Blue Bell ice cream while supplies last.

Appointments are not necessary to donate blood, but can be made by calling 888-482-5663 or visiting the blood center's website at www.giveblood.org. Those who make an appointment ahead of time will be given priority.

All donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. Those who are 16 years old and weigh 122 pounds may donate with parental consent. A valid picture ID is required.
