Cypress Falls student places second at Key Club International Convention
Cypress Falls High School junior Roshni Chandwani took home the second-place prize in an oratorical contest at the Key Club International Convention. The convention took place from July 4-8 in Orlando, Fla., and brought student Key Club members from across the country together for a series of contests, presentations and entertainment. Key Club is a Kiwanis service leadership program. Chandwani competed in a contest that asked Key Club members to describe the organization and spread of a global campaign in their school and community. Chandwani discussed the importance of the Eliminate Project, an organization that aims to end maternal and neonatal tetanus by 2015. "I was honored to receive such a distinction because The Eliminate Project is something I've been working on for the past two years, and I've been involved with a lot of fundraisers for the project," Chandwani said in a press release. "Roshni has been an enthusiastic member of our Key Club, and I couldn't be prouder of everything she has accomplished," Cypress Falls teacher and Key Club sponsor Kathie Kiklas said in the release. Chandwani will also serve as a convention liaison for next year's trip, coordinating the 2013 district themes, participation and planning.
