North Cypress Medical Center gets new PET-CT scanner
The Imaging Service Department of the North Cypress Medical Center has a new tool to help physicians better detect cancers and dementia. In a press release issued on Aug. 27, the medical center stated that it has acquired a Biograph mCT PET-CT scanner manufactured by Siemens, a global company that produces electronics and electrical engineering. The Biograph mCT uses molecular imaging to provide additional metabolic information to physicians. It offers better digital imaging than traditional CT scanners, a larger scanning zone and a faster scanning process. According to the issued press release, the scanner is able to detect cancer lesions and signs of dementia in the brain.
