Murder at local restaurant leads to lawsuit against Cy-Fair man

An estate is suing a Cy-Fair man and others after, they say, insufficient security at a Houston restaurant resulted in the murder of a loved one.    Jasmine Alvarado and others, individually and on behalf of the deceased Roy Valdez, filed a wrongful death lawsuit on Aug. 23 in Harris County District Court against JSCAM and Cy-Fair resident William Wong, doing business as Taqueria Cancun in Houston.     The plaintiffs say on May 13, an unnamed suspect or suspects murdered Roy Valdez, 20, while he was at Taqueria Cancun, located in the 8110 block of South Gessner in Houston. His wife was 7 months pregnant with their first child at the time of his death, according to the brief.    The suit alleges the defendants are to blame for the murder because they failed to provide customers, and other invitees on the property, with sufficient security, even though they knew the restaurant is located in a high-crime area of Houston.    The plaintiffs are seeking damages and court costs.
