Doctor, chef team up to bring new restaurant to area

North Cypress Medical Center Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Robert A. Behar's latest venture is Merche restaurant. Dr. Behar teamed up with acclaimed Houston chef and Merche Executive Chef Joel St. John to develop a menu specializing in the fusion of Spanish, Mediterranean and Italian cuisine.
We were looking to build a spectacular menu and couple that with impeccable service. It was important to me to bring this unique type of dining experience to the Cypress area," Dr. Behar said.
Merche features a custom brick pizza oven cooking up several specialty pizzas. Restaurant patrons can enjoy the signature Merche rotisserie chicken cooked in the Merche old-world rotisserie. The restaurant offers a variety of appetizers, salads, soups, pizza, and pasta. A spectacular array of entre dishes for patrons to choose from includes items such as the Wood-Fired Colossal Pork Chop a la Jim," the Buttered Snapper," and the Wood-Fired Filet Mignon," just to name a few.
Merche features a beautiful, contemporary interior with a great outdoor patio along with a wood-burning stone fireplace and water wall. There is also a private dining room with the capacity to accommodate up to 46 guests available to host intimate parties and meetings. From rehearsal dinners to corporate meetings, Merche creates the perfect ambiance and exquisite cuisine for any occasion.
The restaurant also features a bar that will be opening soon as the liquor license for Merche is pending.
Located at the corner of Hwy 290 and Huffmeister on the street level of North Cypress Professional Building II, Merche is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 11am 9pm and on Sundays from 4pm 9pm.
