Lone Star College to host petroleum industry training course
Lone Star College and PetroEd are partnering to host a certification course titled "Fundamentals of the Petroleum Industry" beginning Monday, Oct. 1 at 20515 SH 249 in Louetta.
The certification is offered in three parts and is designed for those needing a basic understanding of the petroleum industry to perform their jobs. Portions of the course will be taught online, and each part includes one day of classroom time.
Part One includes an orientation at the Lone Star College System Office on Monday, Oct. 1. Online segments run from Oct. 1 through Saturday, Oct. 20. A classroom segment meets on Friday, Oct. 12.
Part Two runs online from Monday, Oct. 22 through Saturday, Nov. 10. The classroom portion meets on Friday, Nov. 2.
Part Three runs online from Monday, Nov. 12 through Saturday, Dec. 8. The classroom portion meets on Friday, Nov. 30.
Some of the topics covered include the basics of upstream and downstream activities and how hydrocarbon deposits are formed, explored and produced.
Each segment includes 32 hours of instruction time and costs $750. The total cost for all sections is $1,911, which includes the course costs and fees.
Examples of people needing the course include technical or business professionals new to the industry or who are experienced in one area; investors or financial professionals who need a better understanding of the industry; and all levels of petroleum industry support staff.
