New $9 million memory care community opening in Cy-Fair
Autumn Leaves, a community center focused on Alzheimer's and dementia care, is set to open in Cy-Fair sometime in October.
According to a press release provided by center officials, the $9 million center will provide a home-like environment for approximately 46 residents with Alzheimer's disease and memory impairment.
"We are very excited to open," said Michelle Bridges, community relations director at Autumn Leaves of Cy-Fair, in the release. "We have specialized activities for our residents every day, plus our building is designed specifically for people living with Alzheimer's and dementia. We look forward to serving our residents, and we hope to provide much needed outreach and education to the community."
The 26,000-square-foot community center will offer many free programs to the public, including seminars, support groups, memory testing and five hours of respite care every Wednesday to give caregivers time to relax.
Residents will participate in life enrichment programs that use touch, laughter, music and dance to engage their senses, as well their personality.
The community also features a culinary director, who will work with nutritionists, doctors and dietitians to create freshly prepared meals for residents.
"Our community is set up much like a beautiful home where residents can come age in place with dignity and respect," said Bonnie Berkman, regional sales director of Constant Care Family Management, the property management company for Autumn Leaves Alzheimer's and Memory Care communities, in the release. "Our care centered practices are specifically designed to focus on enhancing our residents' quality of life."
The addition of Autumn Leaves of Cy-Fair marks the seventh similar community to open in Houston.
