Cypress native selected as intern for Lance Armstrong Foundation
The Lance Armstrong Foundation has announced that Liz Hansen of Cypress has been accepted to serve as a fall 2012 intern.
Hansen, daughter of Paul and Sharon Hansen, graduated from Texas State University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in communication design, according to a press release.
Hansen served previously as an intern for HMG Creative in Austin, a creative web design and brand development firm.
At the foundation, Hansen will assist the marketing department with the development and design of graphics, collateral and event materials.
The foundation offers non-paid internships to students and recent graduates interested in gaining experience in a nonprofit setting. The interns work directly with an employee in shared services, development, fundraising, programs government relations, external affairs and marketing.
Applications for spring and summer 2013 are currently being accepted. The deadline for the spring semester is Dec. 12. The deadline for summer is May 3, 2013.
The Lance Armstrong Foundation serves people affected by cancer by empowering them to take action against the world's leading cause of death, says the release. Created in 1997 by cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong, the foundation provides free patient navigation services to survivors with financial, emotional and practical challenges.
The foundation has raised nearly $500 million since beginning in 1997. It is located at 2201 E. Sixth St., Austin.
