HSCO deputy injured after traffic accident Nov. 2

The Harris County Sheriff's office is investigating a recent incident involving driving under the influence that occurred in the Cy-Fair area.

The incident was reported 6000 block of North State Highway 6 at 3:30 a.m. Nov. 2.

According to a news release issued by the sheriff's office, a 16-year-old male driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after crossing over the northbound lands on North State Highway 6 and hitting a HCSO patrol unit head-on. The unit was one of two HSCO units that were stopped at a red light in the left turn lane of northbound traffic to turn left onto West Little York. The impact of the collision caused the first unit to back into the second.

The deputy whose vehicle was struck head-on was transported to Memorial Cy-Fair hospital for a wrist injury. The second deputy was not seriously hurt.

The driver's toxicology results are pending.
