Cy-Creek grad Mataya plays in Southwestern loss
Cy Creek High School graduate Daniel Mataya scored two points in the 85-54 loss by Southwestern University (Texas) to Washington University Sunday, Nov. 18 at Ratner Center in Chicago, according to Southwestern's website.
The junior forward also recorded a rebound for the Pirates, who are 0-2 on the season.
Southwestern's next game is 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 on the road against University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Mataya played at Cy Creek in 2006-2010, lettering in basketball. He is the son of Tony and Janie Mataya.
