Cy Creek grad Mataya contributes to Southwestern University win against Howard Payne
Daniel Mataya, a graduate of Cy Creek High School, is a junior forward on the Southwestern University men's basketball team.
Cy Creek High School graduate Daniel Mataya contributed eight points in Southwestern University's 68-61 home win against Howard Payne on Tuesday, Dec. 18 in Georgetown.
The Southwestern University junior guard also recorded two rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks for the Pirates, who improved to 4-5 on the season, according to Southwestern University's website.
Southwestern University's next game is at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at home against Hardin-Simmons.
Mataya played at Cy Creek in 2006-2010, lettering in basketball. He is the son of Tony and Janie Mataya.
