Cypress Ranch football team has best year on record
Cypress Ranch High School's football team recently completed the best season of its history, which began with the 2010 season.
Despite starting the 2012 season with two losses, the Mustangs finished strong, compiling a 6-3 mark in District 17-5A and qualified for its first postseason appearance, according to a school release.
The team fell to Katy High School in the Class 5A Division II Region III final at Rice Stadium for its only other loss of the season. The team won six consecutive games before losing in the final.
The Mustangs notched three playoff victories over Aldine Nimitz, Spring Branch Memorial and Alvin Manvel before falling to powerhouse Katy High School 70-21 in the regional final.
"It was a thrilling ride, and we are so proud of all of those involved from the student body, the spirit groups and players," said Gene Johnson, head coach of the team, in the release. "Our senior football athletes have much to be proud of."

Cypress Ranch High School is a secondary school located in Cypress in unincorporated Harris County near Houston. The school was founded in 2008 and is part of the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District.
