Cy Creek grad Mataya plays in Southwestern University loss
Cy Creek High School graduate Daniel Mataya played for Southwestern University in a 50-53 loss at home against Lake Forest College on Sunday, Dec. 30 at Sams Gymnasium in San Antonio, the Southwestern University website reported.
The Southwestern University junior forward recorded two rebounds and three assists for the Pirates, who are 5-7 on the season.
Southwestern University's next game is 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4 at home against Colorado College.
Mataya played at Cy Creek in 2006-2010, lettering in basketball. He is the son of Tony and Janie Mataya.
