Five Cypress runners complete 3M Half Marathon

Five Cypress athletes completed the 3M Half Marathon on Sunday, Jan. 13 in Austin.

The runners from Cypress and their finishing times were Victor Sanchez, 21, 1:46:49; Jose Delapaz, 26, 1:56:54; Sergio Cortina Ortega, 47, 2:21:09; Nayeli Cortina Ortega, 21, 2:31:27; and Heather Burrer, 32, 2:44:21.

Race organizers said 4,998 runners finished the 13.1-mile race, which began and ended at Stonelake Boulevard.

Sammy Cheptoo, of San Antonio, was the men's overall winner with a finishing time of 1:06:05, while Kelly Williamson, of Austin, was the winner in the women's category with a time of 1:16:18.
