Cy Creek grad Mataya plays in Southwestern loss
Cy Creek High School graduate Daniel Mataya played for Southwestern University (Texas) in its 68-58 loss at home to conference rival Centenary (Louisiana) on Friday, Feb. 1 in Georgetown, the Southwestern website reported.
The junior forward and the Pirates are 8-12 on the season and 4-6 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Southwestern University (Texas)'s next game is 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 at home against Austin College.
Mataya played at Cy Creek High School in 2006-2010, lettering in basketball. He is the son of Tony and Janie Mataya.
