Cy-Creek grad Mataya contributes to Southwestern University victory
Cy-Creek High School graduate Daniel Mataya contributed 11 points in Southwestern University (Texas)'s 72-62 home win over conference rival University of Dallas on Friday, Feb. 15 in Georgetown, Southwestern's website reported.
The Southwestern University junior forward also recorded four rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Pirates, who improved to 10-4 on the season and 6-8 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Southwestern University's next game is 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 at home against Colorado College.
Mataya played at Cypress Creek from 2006-10, lettering in basketball. He is the son of Tony and Janie Mataya.
