11 Cypress runners complete NBA All-Star Fit Run

Eleven Cypress athletes completed the NBA All-Star Fit Run on Feb. 16 in Houston.

The runners from Cypress and their finishing times were Garrett Rychlik, 45, 18:14; Kaleab Jones, 20, 27:20; Jonathan Thomas, 12, 27:46; Joel Thomas, 15, 27:46; Lisa Thomas, 40, 34:13; Noah Sherman, 11, 36:28; Richard Sherman, 45, 38:09; Kira Clark, 17, 38:47; Aaron Thomas, 40, 48:19; Porsha Hill, 33, 51:49; and Tyrone Hill, 35, 52:30.

Race organizers said 465 runners finished the 5K race, which began and ended at Discovery Green.

Eric Speer, of Texas, was the men's overall winner with a finishing time of 17:50, while Vanessa McGovern, of Houston, was the winner in the women's category with a time of 19:36.
