Jersey Village police station set to expand

City of Jersey Village police officers will soon have additional elbow room in their police station.
The city is set to launch a $633,000 expansion project that will add a 2,205-square-foot addition on to the existing 11,158-square-foot building on Lakeview Drive between the Jersey Village Fire Department and City Hall.
The building we are in was constructed in 1996, and we have almost doubled the number of personnel we had then," Jersey Village Police Chief Charles Wedemeyer said. We have run out of space, and we don't have any place to store anything."
The police department staff includes 28 law enforcement officers one chief, three detectives, four sergeants and 20 officers and two civilians.
The new wing will be added onto the west end of the building. It will house three new offices and will allow for the expansion of the training room/emergency operations center, roll call/patrol sergeants area, and the records division. The dispatch/communications office will be remodeled, also.
