Spillane eighth-grader wins CFISD spelling bee

Spillane Middle School eighth-grade student Bart Zhang won first place by correctly spelling the word anonymous" in the 14th round of the annual district-wide Middle School Spelling Bee, held at the Berry Center on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
Campbell Middle School student Diego Arrieta was the district's runner-up. Both Zhang and Arrieta will compete in the Houston PBS Regional Spelling Bee, scheduled for March 27 at 2 p.m. on the University of Houston campus.
