New Bridgeland project under way

The developer of Bridgeland master-planned community at U.S. 290 and Fry Road has restarted a section that he hopes brings a little of city life to Cy-Fair, reports Chronicle real estate reporter Nancy Sarnoff.

The project, called Lakeland Heights, was supposed to open last year, but the housing slump derailed it. Bridgeland vice president Peter Houghton said home sales in the planned community near U.S. 290 and Fry Road were up 30 percent in the first seven weeks of the year over the same period in 2009. David Weekley Homes will start construction within the next month on seven homes in Lakeland Heights.
